On August 21st, 2017 the Moon hided the solar disk in what was known as the great American solar eclipse. The totality run from the west coast, in Oregon, to the east.
With my family we observed this wonderful event from Madras, Oregon. I imaged it with a Canon 70D with a 300mm zoom.
This is the totality, in a HDR composition (HDR combines different exposures so as to gather details of the inner and external corona):
Just before, and after, the totality what is known as the diamond ring appears. Notice the pearls in this picture, a second before the Moon disk hides the Sun:
